Supporting your health naturally with the power of plants
Struggling with ongoing symptoms?
When ongoing symptoms keep interrupting your life, it can be frustrating and exhausting. You may have tried different approaches with limited or short-term results. Now you’re looking for a safe, natural way to understand what’s really going on, so you can start taking back control of your health.
I offer a holistic, evidence-informed approach to health and take time to listen and understand you as an individual. Through personalised herbal medicine alongside tailored diet and lifestyle support, I work with you to restore balance, enhance long-term wellbeing, and empower you to live your best life.
Hello, I’m Karen Williamson, a qualified Medical Herbalist and member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH).
Based in Milton Keynes, I offer face-to-face consultations at Emerson Valley Milton Keynes and Place Eight Wellness Swanbourne, as well as online appointments.
My approach focuses on supporting your health naturally through personalised herbal medicine, alongside nutrition and lifestyle guidance.
I have a particular interest in digestive health and the gut microbiome, recognising the important connection between the gut, immune system, hormones, inflammation, energy levels and overall wellbeing.
The digestive system plays an important role in whole-body health, and I support people experiencing digestive concerns such as bloating, IBS symptoms, reflux, food sensitivities and changes in bowel habits. I also recognise that many health concerns involve multiple factors, including stress, nutrition, sleep, immune function and lifestyle.
Alongside digestive health, I support people with a wide range of health concerns, including:
🌿 Women’s health: perimenopause, menopause and hormonal balance
🌿 Skin health: acne, eczema and psoriasis
🌿 Stress, sleep and nervous system support: anxiety, burnout, low mood and insomnia
🌿 Autoimmune and inflammatory conditions: including IBD, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus
🌿 Respiratory health: asthma and COPD support
🌿 Musculoskeletal health: osteoarthritis, joint and pain conditions
🌿 Circulation challenges and more..........
Every person is unique, and herbal medicine is tailored to your individual needs.
If you are unsure whether herbal support may be suitable for you, you are welcome to get in touch to discuss your health concerns.
I provide individualised herbal medicine and holistic support, designed around you not a one-size-fits-all approach.

What Is Herbal Medicine?
Herbal medicine, also known as phytotherapy, uses plants or parts of plants such as leaves, flowers, roots, and bark to create natural remedies. It is the world’s oldest and most widely used system of healing, with cultures across the globe relying on plant medicine for thousands of years for both prevention and treatment.
Today, many traditional uses of herbs are supported by scientific research. In fact, around 120 pharmaceutical drugs are derived from plants, including salicylic acid from willow bark which led to the development of aspirin.
Herbs are a versatile resource, providing not only medicine but also nutritional, emotional, and skin-supporting benefits. Common plants such as dandelion, nettle, plantain, and yarrow are rich in nutrients and medicinal compounds that support digestion, skin health, hormonal balance, circulation, immunity, and more.
Unlike pharmaceuticals, which typically isolate a single active compound, herbal medicine uses whole-plant extracts. This holistic approach provides broader therapeutic effects, works in harmony with the body, and helps restore balance with fewer side effects.
Is Herbal Medicine Safe?
Yes, herbal medicine is a safe and effective form of healthcare when used appropriately and with professional guidance. With so much misinformation available online, it’s important to access herbal medicine safely ideally through a trained and qualified medical herbalist, rather than relying on conflicting advice found on social media.
Working with a certified medical herbalist means you’ll receive a full consultation and a personalised treatment plan tailored specifically to your individual needs. Medical herbalists are extensively trained and must successfully complete rigorous clinical examinations, ensuring they practise both safely and responsibly.
For those who wish to deepen their understanding, courses and workshops can provide valuable guidance for using herbs safely and confidently at home. When combined with proper training, experience, and professional care, herbal medicine can be a gentle, effective, and trustworthy way to support your health and wellbeing
